Why Microsoft asks for admin approval
What the permissions mean, and what to send your IT person.
When you connect Microsoft 365, you may see a message saying the app needs approval from an administrator. This is a setting in your organisation’s Microsoft account, not a problem with Quoflow.
Why it happens
Many organisations require an administrator to approve any app before it can read company email. Some apply this to every app. Others only apply it to certain permissions.
The permissions Quoflow asks for
| Permission | Needed? | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
Mail.Read | Yes | Read emails and attachments in the connected mailbox. This is all Quoflow needs to sort email and read plans. |
Mail.ReadWrite | Optional | Lets Quoflow file emails into folders for you. Quoflow still never sends or deletes email, and never marks it as read. |
If filing isn’t approved, Quoflow keeps working read-only. You lose nothing except automatic filing.
What to send your IT person
Send them something like this:
- We’d like to connect our sales mailbox to Quoflow, estimating software from Quoflow Limited in Christchurch.
- It needs the
Mail.Readpermission to read quote requests and their attached plans. It reads through Microsoft Graph and does not send, delete or change email. - Optionally,
Mail.ReadWritelets it file emails into folders. We’re happy without it if you’d prefer. - Security details are at quoflow.co.nz/security.
Once they approve it, try connecting again from the Inbox page.
